I've been using my laptop plugged in 24/7 for the past couple of months because the battery isn't working at all. I'm wondering if this has any negative effects on the laptop itself. Should I do anything about the battery?

You can use your laptop plugged in like that without any issues. Just make sure you remove the battery if you haven't yet. It's safer that way.
Using it plugged in won't harm your laptop, but I suggest checking the battery. Sometimes they swell when they fail, which can be a risk. If you decide to keep using it, make sure you handle the battery carefully and consider getting a replacement later.
Thanks for the tips!
