I'm currently using a Ryzen 7 5800X with a GeForce RTX 2070 Super and I'm thinking about upgrading to a 5070 or 5070 Ti. However, I've been getting mixed messages from various bottleneck calculators that suggest I'm facing a major bottleneck with my current setup. The only options they seem to leave me with are upgrading to either a Ryzen 9 5900X or 5950X. I should mention that I've just upgraded my PSU using a recommended version, and it now includes the necessary power cable for newer GPUs. So, should I upgrade my GPU or consider upgrading my CPU instead?

Don't underestimate the 5700X3D! I’m running it alongside a 5080, and I’ve yet to find a game that I can’t play without the CPU becoming a limiting factor. It's a noticeable upgrade over the 5800X in gaming. Totally recommend it if you’re looking for that extra performance.
Bottleneck calculators are not the be-all-end-all! Your CPU is relatively fresh compared to your GPU. In fact, I’ve heard that the Ryzen 5700X3D pushes performance beyond the 5950X in gaming scenarios. Given what you have, your current setup will still work fine with the 5070, and for the Ti, it might show some minor bottlenecks but nothing too drastic. Have you also looked into the RX 9070 or 9070 XT? They’re worth considering.
Honestly, I’d just ignore those calculators. You could go for a 5700X3D along with the 5070—it’s a solid choice! Your 5800X is still pretty capable and should handle the 5070 decently, maybe a bit more noticeable with the 5070 Ti, but not enough to stress over.
So you're saying the 5700X3D would be a better choice for gaming? That sounds promising!
