I'm building a new PC and I'm thinking about gifting my older setup to my younger brother-in-law. The PC is around 10 years old, and I'm a bit worried about whether it would actually work well for gaming, especially for Fortnite. Should I upgrade anything before gifting it, or is it going to be a hassle for him? He'll need to buy his own monitor, likely a cheaper 1080p one. Here are the specs:
- CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5 GHz Quad-Core Processor
- CPU Cooler: CRYORIG H7 49 CFM CPU Cooler
- Motherboard: Asus Z170-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
- Memory: Crucial CT8G4DFS8213 8 GB (1 x 8 GB) DDR4-2133 CL15 Memory
- Storage: Seagate BarraCuda 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
- Storage: SanDisk SSD PLUS 240 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
- Video Card: Sapphire NITRO Radeon R9 Fury 4 GB Video Card
- Case: In Win 503 ATX Mid Tower Case
- Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G2 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
- Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM - DVD 64-bit

If you want to boost the performance, adding another RAM stick for dual-channel memory is a good move. Also, if your budget allows, upgrading the GPU to something newer could make a significant difference, maybe even considering an Intel B580 setup.
Honestly, if I were you, I'd go for a cheap gaming laptop instead. They tend to perform surprisingly well even with lower specs, especially for 1080p gaming.
I think I might have found another RAM stick around. I'll definitely check that out!
