How Difficult is it to Land a DevOps Job in the EU?

Hi everyone! I'm currently a DevOps engineer based in Cyprus with three years of experience and a couple of AWS certifications. Since I don't hold an EU passport, I'll need sponsorship from a company to work in the EU. I'm curious about how tough it is to secure DevOps positions in the EU, whether they be hybrid, onsite, or fully remote. Any insights?

Finding a DevOps role in the EU shouldn't be too difficult, but don't get your hopes too high for salaries; they can be on the lower side.

I'm okay with the salary, and I'm thinking I could negotiate. Do you have any companies in particular that come to mind?

Most roles I've noticed are based in the Netherlands, Ireland, Poland, Malta, and Cyprus. Just a heads up though, the pay is typically between 40k to 60k gross annually.

I can work with that range, but I’m really focused on finding avenues for growth. Malta catches my interest—have you heard anything about it? Also, do you think it’s particularly tough to land a job in general?

In the Netherlands, starting at 40k might be low, especially with your experience; you should aim for 55k to 70k. But yes, it’s still lower compared to US standards.

There are many job openings, especially in tech hubs like Amsterdam, Berlin, and Barcelona. Those cities are definitely worth looking into!

Great! I'll check them out.
