Can I Use a Magnetic Phone Case Without Damaging My Cards?

My friend is planning to get a new phone with a magnetic case, but they have a habit of keeping all their essential cards—like their credit card and driver's license—between the phone and the case. They're concerned that the magnets could damage these cards and are also worried about whether the extra thickness might affect wireless charging. They enjoy having everything consolidated for convenience and prefer not to carry extra items, but they want to avoid a bulkier wallet case. Are there alternatives that work well with magnets without posing risks to their cards?

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend keeping the cards between the phone and the case. There is a chance that the magnets could affect the RFID chips if they're not designed for it. Also, anything that adds distance can slow down wireless charging and might heat the phone up more than usual.

Not all cards are affected by magnets. RFID chips should be fine, but magnetic stripes on older cards can get damaged. It's worth double-checking what type of cards you have.

You could consider going digital with all your cards! Many places allow you to store your driver's license and insurance cards on your phone. That way, you can leave the physical cards at home and just carry your phone. It makes things cleaner and reduces the risk of damage.

Totally agree! Keeping everything digital is definitely a safer option, especially if you're prone to losing things.

If they want to keep using the magnetic case, they might look into magnetic wallet attachments. They can stick on the back and should be thinner than most wallet cases. Just a thought if they don't want to switch cases frequently!

Good point! Those magnetic wallets can be pretty sleek and might save a lot of hassle in the long run.
