Hey folks! I'm having a frustrating problem with my PC's WiFi connection. Ever since my friend built it for me over a year ago, it's been disconnecting randomly, or sometimes it says I'm connected but all my online applications can't access the internet. My friend transferred the data card from my old PC, and I'm wondering if that could be causing the issues. I tried using an ethernet cable and it works perfectly until I disconnect it, then I can't reconnect without restarting my PC. I'm on Windows 11 and here's everything I've tried so far:
- Updated Wi-Fi drivers
- Upgraded my Wi-Fi plan
- Checked the Wi-Fi card, which doesn't show any issues (but I might replace it anyway)
- Used an Ethernet cable
- Restarted my Wi-Fi and network settings
I'm hoping to avoid resetting my entire PC if it won't even solve the problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried moving your Wi-Fi router or the PC to see if they’re closer together? Sometimes the distance can affect connectivity, and it might just need to be a bit closer to work properly. Just a thought!
Consider picking up a USB Wi-Fi adapter. They’re pretty affordable and can serve as a backup connection. It’ll also help you determine if the problem is with your PC’s built-in adapter or the Wi-Fi network itself. If the onboard card is the issue, a USB adapter could be a quick fix!
Just to clarify, does using a USB adapter really make a difference compared to built-in ones? I have a couple lying around that aren't USB.
I haven’t tried that yet. Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s a better spot to move the router. It’s odd because I used to connect without any issues in the same spot.
