I'm looking to buy a new PC mainly for work and some gaming, but I'm a bit confused about how the internet connectivity works. Can a PC connect to a WiFi router wirelessly, just like a laptop? Or do I need a dongle or some other accessory for that?

Check if the PC you're considering has antennas or two brass connectors on the back; that means it supports WiFi. If not, you can always buy a cheap WiFi dongle to get connected. But honestly, using an Ethernet cable is usually the best way to go for a stable connection.
If you're planning on gaming, I'd say try to stick with a wired connection if possible. But if your router is far away, definitely look for a WiFi dongle! Those can be super easy to set up.
