I've been dealing with an annoying sound coming from my PC and it's driving me nuts! It started a couple of weeks ago and happens at random times, even when I'm not gaming. Recently, I managed to record it while playing, and I just want to figure out what's going on. I've checked all my apps and processes, but I still can't pinpoint the source. Can anyone help me out?

If you want to dig deeper, try using a process monitor to log any notification sounds. This link has some tips: https://superuser.com/questions/1755073/how-do-i-find-out-what-app-is-generating-notification-like-sounds-on-windows-11. It could help identify if it’s from another app like a messaging service or something else on your PC.
Sounds like you might be hearing a Steam notification. It's usually linked to a friend starting or joining a game. If you check your sound files, it’s called 'ui_steam_smoother_friend_join.m4a'. Disabling Steam notifications could make your life a lot quieter!
Good catch! Now I can finally stop wondering what that sound was.
You're the best! I'll turn off those notifications.
I figured it out thanks to you, but I appreciate the info!
