How Does OpenAI Codex Stack Up Against Claude Code?

I'm curious if anyone has had a chance to use OpenAI Codex, especially after the recent browser-based agent release on May 16. I've invested over $300 in Claude Code and would love to know if switching to ChatGPT Pro would be a worthwhile choice compared to Claude.

If you're spending over $300 on Claude, you might want to check out Google AI Studio. I’ve heard it delivers better results for a lower cost.

I found Codex to be pretty slow. You send in a prompt, and it can take over 10 minutes to get a response. Sure, you can have multiple tasks running, but it can get pretty chaotic. It might help open pull requests, but it lacks the ability to push changes to existing merge requests. Honestly, it feels a bit clunky for everyday use.

Just to clarify, Codex isn’t just a browser tool; it has been around longer as a terminal-based competitor to Claude Code. While it has made strides, I don't think it measures up at the moment. One good thing about Codex is that it lets you use different models, which is nice. But overall, Claude seems to have a better integrated experience right now.
