I've had my Surface Pro 8 since August 2022, and lately, I've noticed that the fan kicks in right away when I power it on, even though the laptop isn't hot at all. This issue seems to be worsening over the past week. Additionally, my laptop shuts down when the battery level is around 50%. Can anyone help me understand what might be going on? I'm not very tech-savvy, but I'm open to any suggestions or questions!

It sounds like your fan is running at full speed all the time. Have you noticed if it ever slows down? Updating the BIOS could potentially resolve this, but make sure you're comfortable with that process before diving in.
I actually managed to stop the fan from blasting right away, but I've started to notice a weird plastic or permanent marker smell near the fan area. Should I be worried about that?
