Should I stick with Roo or make the switch to Claude Code?

I've been happily using Roo for my projects and noticed the Claude API getting a lot of buzz. Although I'm getting decent results with Roo, I'm hesitant about switching to Claude Code due to concerns about vendor lock-in, cost (since my work covers the API but not Claude Code), and the hassle of learning a new tool if the improvements are marginal. If Claude Code offers significant benefits over Roo, I'd consider making the switch. So, what are your thoughts on these two tools?

I've dabbled with both—API with Roo and ClaudeCode. Claude Code has an edge in performance, especially since there's no rate limiting. But Roo offers more control and a better coding experience overall. Just be aware of the costs associated with API use; it can add up fast. If you want something that tackles everything in one go, Claude Code is the route to take, but if you prefer customization, Roo might be your best bet.

Great points! I've found the flexibility in Roo to be a big selling point for me.

I took the plunge with Claude Max and honestly, it's been great. I haven't hit any rate limits, which is a relief because I was worried about costs. At $100/month, it might seem steep, but it's worth it if you're putting in heavy usage. So far, I haven't regretted the switch!

That's impressive! I was skeptical about hitting limits too, but it's nice to know it hasn't been an issue for you.

Claude Code feels really powerful, but it does need some set-up—especially if you're on Windows since you'll have to use WSL. Once you get past the learning curve, it shines, but Roo offers a good balance for those who want a smoother experience with more stability. Sounds like sticking with Roo for now might be wise until Claude Code proves its worth!

If your work pays for the API, I'd say stick with it for now. In my experience, Roo and Cline are actually outpacing CC, which surprised me! I tried Claude Max but found myself going back to Cline for better performance and less hassle. Sometimes, I feel like I have to wrestle with CC just to get it to listen to me.

Exactly! I constantly find myself having to correct it mid-task. It's frustrating!

I'm considering both tools, trying to see which fits better with my workflow. Just feels like a lot of options out there and I want to make the right choice!
