I'm looking to upgrade from my current 3060 and can't decide between getting a used 3080 or a used 4070. My budget is around $500, maybe pushing $550 if needed. By the way, I'm using a 7600x CPU, so I'm wondering which graphics card would be the better buy, or if I should consider something new or different?

If you can wait a bit, I've noticed that prices for the 4070 and other cards are dropping pretty quickly here in the US too. You might score a better deal if you hold off a little while longer!
I'd recommend going for the RTX 4070 since it offers 12GB of VRAM, which could be beneficial in the long run. If you're set on Nvidia, you might also want to check out the RTX 5060 Ti—it has 16GB of VRAM and performs similarly to the 4070, though it’s a tad lower than the 3080. If you're gaming a lot, having that extra memory could really help!
I'll definitely look into the 5060 Ti.
Before deciding, make sure to consider what CPU you have. Knowing your setup can really influence which card will perform better for you.
I have a 7600x.
There’s an RTX 5070 available for $549, if you can stretch your budget a bit. Though right now it’s around $800, so keep an eye on it!
Lol when it actually drops to that price, it might be a no-brainer!
That's a solid plan! Prices seem to be changing daily.
