Is 1920×1080 Too Much for My GPU Compared to 1366×768?

I'm planning to switch from a TN 1366x768 display to an IPS 1920x1080 panel. I'm curious about how much more demanding this new resolution will be on my GPU while gaming. My current setup includes an Intel i5 7200u processor, an Nvidia 940MX graphics card, and 12 GB of DDR4 RAM running at 2133 MHz.

Switching to 1920x1080 is roughly double the workload for your GPU. You're going from about 1 million pixels to 2 million pixels, so it's definitely going to require more power while gaming.

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend going for the 1080p upgrade with your current setup. I had a similar laptop with a 1080p screen, and I ended up needing to run most games at 1366x768 anyway because it struggled.

I get that, but I really need an IPS display. I'll switch to 1366x768 for games if it helps.

Yeah, but remember, the 1080p IPS will greatly enhance your overall visual experience for non-gaming tasks. Plus, you can always lower the resolution in games when needed.
