Upgrading from i7 8700k and RTX 3070 – Need Advice!

Hey everyone! I'm currently using an i7 8700k, 32GB of RAM, and an RTX 3070. I game on a 34-inch ultrawide monitor at 1440p, but I've started noticing some frame drops when playing demanding games on ultra and high settings. I've done a bit of research on possibly just upgrading my CPU, but I'm not sure it'll make a big difference in overall performance. I also thought about upgrading my GPU, but I'm worried about my CPU being a bottleneck. I've been patient and have waited a few generations to consider upgrading. Should I just upgrade the GPU? Do multiple upgrades make sense, or is it time to start a completely new build? I'm thinking about switching to something like a Ryzen 7 9700X or maybe looking at a future 5070 Ti. Any thoughts or suggestions would be really appreciated! Thanks!

I had the same specs as you and ended up upgrading to the 9800X3D and paired it with a 7900XT. It's been solid! Definitely worth considering if you're looking at upgrades.

That combo sounds great! How's your experience been so far? I'm on the lookout for bundle deals online.

For now, I’d recommend keeping your GPU. Consider upgrading to something like the 9800X3D along with DDR5 memory—it’ll pair nicely with your setup.

Thanks for the suggestion! Do you think my current CPU is bottlenecking the 3070? I'm only hitting under 100 FPS on medium settings in games like Marvel Rivals and Overwatch.
