Why does my laptop automatically turn back on after I shut it down?

I've been noticing a strange issue with my gaming MSI laptop: every time I turn it off, it powers back on by itself without any reason. I've tried unplugging it since the battery drains quickly and I usually keep it plugged in, but that hasn't helped. The only way I can keep it off is by letting the battery run out completely, which is pretty annoying. I'm not too tech-savvy, but I know it's running Windows. What could be causing this problem?

Your laptop might have a setting in the BIOS that lets it turn on with certain USB devices connected, like a mouse or keyboard. I once had a similar issue with my desktop where the monitor would power it on just by being in sleep mode. Try going into your BIOS settings and check for options like 'Wake on LAN' or anything that mentions waking from shutdown. Also, disconnect everything except your charger to see if that helps.

It sounds like your laptop is actually going to sleep instead of shutting down. Check the power management settings for your mouse and keyboard; they might be set to wake your laptop. If that's the case, you can disable those options. Also, a better power strip can sometimes help if there's interference.

Here’s a quick rundown of things to check:
1. Look in BIOS for anything about waking due to LAN or USB devices.
2. Consider disabling fast startup in Windows; it can sometimes cause weird issues.
3. Ensure your power button isn’t stuck or malfunctioning, but if it was, you’d probably see random reboots too.
