I recently sent my CPU back to the store and they claimed the issue was due to a broken pin. However, I noticed that OCCT reports 980 errors specifically on the first core. They sent me a picture of the CPU, but I'm confused because it doesn't show the pins at all. Here's the link to the image: https://imgur.com/a/4WJHisJ. Can anyone help me understand if the damage in the photo could be the reason for these core errors?

I think there's a bit of confusion here. The photo they sent doesn't actually show the pins! It looks like you might be looking at the wrong side of the CPU. Generally, when they say 'pins', it refers to the connectors that go into the motherboard, and they should definitely be visible in that pic.
That part you're pointing at is not a pin; it’s an SMD component that seems to be broken off. This component could definitely be linked to functionality issues, like the core errors you're experiencing. It’s worth bringing up when you contact the store.
I asked them to specify which pin is broken, and they replied with another image. Check it out here: https://imgur.com/a/DhwojOW.
