I'm building my first PC from scratch and need some advice on which graphics card to pick. My setup includes an MSI Pro B650M-A motherboard and a Ryzen 5 7600 CPU. While I've heard that the AMD RX 7800 XT offers great value, my use case extends beyond gaming; I'm a computer science student and will be doing some AI work. From what I've gathered, AMD cards aren't the best for AI tasks. I'm considering an RTX 4070 Super with 12GB, an RTX 5070 with 12GB, and an RTX 4060 Ti with 16GB. However, I've got options for the RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB as well. The pricing in my area places the cards in this order: 5070 > 4070 > 4060. Is the 5070 really the best choice, or is there something I should consider further?

Make sure the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is actually available where you are. If it is, that could be a solid choice due to the higher VRAM, but I'd still suggest leaning towards the 5070 for overall performance, especially for AI tasks.
Honestly, if you're focusing on AI and can get the RTX 5070 near MSRP (around $500-$600), that should be your go-to. It's been criticized for underperforming compared to the hype, but it's still a capable card for your needs. Just keep in mind, don't buy into the 'light gaming' vibe—this card can handle plenty!
If you can afford the RTX 5070, go for it! It's definitely the best option in your list for both gaming and AI tasks. It's a major upgrade from your old 1060, and the extra power will be beneficial for your CS work too. Unless you find the other cards significantly cheaper, the 5070 should serve you well.
I get what you're saying about the value, but don’t forget that the RTX 5060 Ti has 16GB of VRAM, which might come in handy for specific tasks. Still, the performance of the 5070 is likely worth it if you can get it at a good price.
Seriously! My 4070 runs everything on high/ultra at 1440p without breaking a sweat, so I wouldn't underestimate the capability of these newer GPUs.
