Hey everyone! It's been around five years since I last built my PC, and I haven't made any upgrades since then. I'm considering swapping out my Ryzen 5 3600 CPU for a Ryzen 5 5600, and my GTX 1660 for an RTX 4070 12GB. I've got a PCPartPicker link with all my current parts along with my proposed upgrades. I'm wondering if there are other components I should look at replacing as well, or if anyone has suggestions for a better CPU/GPU combo. My goal is to hit over 165 frames per second in FPS games; right now, I'm only getting about 90 FPS in Marvel Rivals on the lowest settings. The estimated cost for my upgrades is around $1100, but I'm open to spending more if needed. Since I'm not super experienced with PCs, any advice would be greatly appreciated! Honestly, the RTX 4070 might not be the best choice for that price range. It's from an older generation and the prices are just inflated since it's hard to find. You might want to check out the RTX 5070 or RX 9070. They’ll give you better performance and fit into your budget better! Also, consider the Ryzen 5700X3D as it could be a solid upgrade if you want to stick with the AM4 platform for longer. Just be cautious with the PSU requirements for these newer GPUs!
When it comes to storage, I think the Samsung 970 Evo Plus is pretty pricey for a PCIe 3.0 SSD. I'd recommend looking for a PCIe 4.0 drive if you can find one at a better price. Even if your motherboard can't utilize all its speed right now, you'll save some cash, which is always good for upgrades!
I took a look at your build and made some tweaks. Check out this modified setup: an Intel i5-12600KF for the CPU, a 750W PSU, and a great 32GB RAM kit. It comes to about $1468 total. But keep in mind, you're moving away from your current Ryzen setup to a different platform. I'd recommend sticking with your Ryzen 3600 and just upgrading it to the 5700X3D instead for better gaming performance without changing too much.

I get where you're coming from, but OP already has a decent motherboard with the Ryzen 3600. Why switch to an entirely new platform? The 5700X3D would actually outperform the i5 in gaming and is a more cost-effective upgrade!
Thanks for the heads-up! I'll definitely look into the 5070 and 5700X3D.
