Hey everyone! I built my first PC in 2022 with an i7-12700K, RTX 3080, and 32GB of DDR5 RAM. I'm thinking about upgrading some components and have a few questions I could use your advice on:
- Is it worth upgrading to the RTX 5070 Ti?
- Is my i7-12700K still capable? Will it bottleneck at 1440p gaming?
- I have an ASUS TUF Z690 motherboard and I haven't updated the BIOS since 2022. Is it necessary to update it? If so, should I go straight to the latest version? I've heard there are intermediate updates that might need the Intel ME to be updated first, but the latest version handles both.
Thanks for any help!

You should definitely consider updating your BIOS, especially since there have been some important security updates. As for your i7-12700K, it's still a solid CPU, so upgrading won’t be a game-changer for you right now.
About the RTX 5070 Ti: while it might give you around a 50% performance boost, I usually prefer waiting for something that offers more like 80-100%. Plus, the price tag can be steep—think about whether it's worth it for your needs before pulling the trigger!
Thanks for the advice! I found a 5070 Ti for 900€ but I’m still unsure about the BIOS update process. Should I just go straight to the latest version?
