Should I Be Concerned About PCIe Damage from My GPU Not Being Screwed In?

I just realized that my GPU wasn't secured in the case for about 1.5 years since I built my PC. The sliding bracket was kinda holding it in place at the I/O end. Now that I've finally screwed it in, I'm worried about any potential damage to the PCIe slot. I didn't notice any issues while gaming all this time, but what should I be thinking about for future upgrades? By the way, I have an RX 6700 XT with two fans.

Honestly, if your GPU has been working fine all this time, you're probably in the clear. Ignorance might be bliss in this case! Since it's finally secured now, I wouldn't stress too much.

Thanks for the reassurance! I was really worried it could cause major issues.

If it worked fine during that time, you’re likely good! GPUs pretty much either work or they don’t, and yours was clearly functioning. Just make sure it's secure going forward!

Yeah, what’s done is done. If it’s still running without issues, then it’s probably fine. But definitely make sure to screw it in securely now that you know!
