I accidentally bent some pins on my AM5 motherboard and spent hours trying to bend them back using a needle. Depending on the angle I look at them from, they still seem really messed up. I'm nervous about putting in my CPU and turning it on, as I'm worried about potential long-term damage to my other components. Is there any hope for fixing this, or do I need to buy a new motherboard?

You might be able to fix it if you have the right patience and skill. Just take your time when bending them back, and be gentle. It's definitely doable!
Considering there are 1718 pins in total, you may have only bent a fraction of them—like around 170. Good luck, just take it slow!
Honestly, you should just get a new motherboard. It's one of the least expensive parts of a build, and you don't want to risk damaging any of your pricier components! Just my two cents.
I had a similar issue with my ASUS motherboard. My machine wouldn't get past POST, so I sent it in for a socket replacement. Luckily, my CPU was fine and is now running perfectly in another motherboard, so there's a good chance yours is okay too!
Replacing the motherboard is probably the best route. While you can try bending the pins back, there's always a chance they won't hold up under heavy use, which could lead to random crashes or issues. If there's an electronic repair shop nearby, check with them about the cost of a new socket install. But overall, replacing it might be the safer option.
Yeah, the AM5 socket has some pretty tiny pins, but bending them back is possible. Just be careful while doing it!
