Hi everyone! I'm a bit of a beginner in the tech world, and I recently built my first PC that shares a monitor with my work computer via a KVM switch (I'm using this model: https://www.newegg.com/p/3C6-019Z-000S2). Everything was running smoothly for about six months, but recently, my new PC hasn't been recognizing the monitor. My work computer works fine with it through the KVM switch, and the keyboard and mouse are recognized on both machines. However, if I connect the monitor directly to the HDMI port on my PC, it works perfectly. I've gone through the usual troubleshooting like unplugging and re-plugging everything repeatedly, restarting the system, and looking for driver updates. What could I possibly be overlooking? By the way, I'm using a Dell E2014Hc monitor, an MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk motherboard, and an EVGA Geforce RTX 3050 graphics card. Thanks for any help!

Have you thought about swapping the cables? It's possible that one of them might be defective. Also, does your PC have trouble recognizing one or both of the monitors?
Honestly, you might not have done anything wrong. Sometimes, these inexpensive KVM switches have issues and can fail intermittently. Just to clarify, your non-work PC does work fine when you connect the monitor directly, right?
Yes, that's correct! It works without a hitch when directly connected. The thing that's confusing me about giving up on the KVM switch is that it still recognizes the monitor when plugged into the KVM for my work computer. When I switch to my PC, I only get the mouse and keyboard, but no monitor signal.
Not yet, but good idea! I'm using a VGA to HDMI adapter for the Dell monitor and HDMI to DisplayPort for the other, so I haven't switched them on the KVM yet. All the cables were new for this setup, so I don’t have spares, but I might pick up extras just in case.
