I've made sure that all the necessary settings are enabled, but ChatGPT just isn't able to save memories or reference past conversations. For instance, I asked it to remember a packing list for a trip and when I returned the next day to add a few items, it couldn't recall the original list. I pulled up the previous conversation, added the new items, and instructed it to save the list permanently, making sure to emphasize that it shouldn't forget it. It confirmed that it had saved the list. However, when I started a new chat and asked it to recall the list, it completely failed to do so. It claimed that it's unable to access previous conversations, despite having the setting enabled, and it seemed to perform well without issues just weeks prior. I'm confused—did something change recently?

It seems like there's a bit of confusion here about how ChatGPT handles memories. You can't ask it to retain a list of specific items. It only remembers preferences or traits, like if you tell it not to use emojis or to call you 'boss man.' You really can't keep adding to lists outside of the same conversation—once you leave, it resets. You might need to stay in one thread for that to work!
I know what you mean! But I've managed to get it to remember lists before. This issue seems to have cropped up quite recently.
