Is this cheap RTX 4090 listing a scam?

I found an RTX 4090 listed for just $300 on Facebook Marketplace. The seller's account was created in 2025, which raises a red flag for me. The images of the GPU all have the same background, so I don't think they are random pictures from the internet. I did a reverse search on all the images and the seller's profile picture, but I couldn't find any information. The seller is open to letting me test it out to verify if the GPU is legit. Does this deal sound too good to be true? Should I go for it or steer clear due to the obvious deal breaker?

Honestly, it sounds like a scam to me. No reputable seller would offer such a high-end GPU at that price. Plus, the fresh account is definitely suspicious. Better to be safe than sorry!

I get that, but why do you think it's a scam? I'm trying to wrap my head around it!

There's a high chance it's stolen or some kind of cheap knockoff. No one with a legitimate GPU would sell it for $300. Just avoid it!

If the seller is willing to let you test it, that could be a good sign, but it also opens you up to risk. If it's stolen, they might just rob you when you meet. Tread carefully!

You bring up a solid point. I think I’ll skip this one.

It's definitely a scam if it's so cheap. Unfortunately, people fall for these types of listings all the time, which is why scammers keep posting them.

This sounds like either a highly modified old graphics card, or it’s simply a scam targeted at unsuspecting buyers. Even with the opportunity to benchmark, I'd still be skeptical. Better look elsewher!

If I can benchmark it to check performance, would that not be a sure way to tell?
