What do I do if none of my keyboards are working?

I'm facing a frustrating issue where none of my keyboards are functioning properly. I've tried four different keyboards, and none are working, which makes me unsure if the problem is with the hardware or the software. My original keyboard was working perfectly until Friday, and other USB devices like my microphone and mouse are functioning fine. Can anyone help me figure out what I should do next?

When checking, see if the keyboards light up or have any indicators, like the caps lock light. If you’re using a desktop, the built-in keyboard should work as well if it’s a laptop. Don’t forget to try the on-screen keyboard and also use the built-in Windows keyboard troubleshooter.

Good to know the on-screen keyboard works for you!

Since you're using a stationary machine, make sure your keyboards are powered on. You mentioned you have volume control, which indicates they might be working. To check if the keyboard works in BIOS, you just need to power off the computer, turn it back on, and pay close attention to the key prompts on your screen.

First, try booting into BIOS to see if the keyboard works there. If it does, this might point to an issue with your operating system or drivers. You can try reverting to an earlier restore point or, as a last resort, consider a clean install of Windows.

I managed to resolve this! Turns out it was caused by a Windows update. Here’s what I did:

1. Open Device Manager and look under the keyboards and unknown devices tabs.
2. If you see your keyboard with an error, right-click it, choose to update drivers, and select 'browse my computer for drivers.'
3. Then, let me pick from a list of available drivers and choose 'HID Keyboard Device'.

This should fix it!
