Will resetting my PC help recover from missing system issues?

Hey everyone, back in 2021, I downloaded a .dll file from a sketchy website to fix a game, but it turned my .jpeg, .doc files into .iotr virus files. I managed to get the virus removed, but my system is still messed up; for example, Windows Update won't work, and I can't find Windows Security or some apps like Steam and Epic Games Launcher anymore. I've tried reinstalling those apps but to no avail. Now, I'm wondering if I reset my PC, will it fix everything and get it back to normal? Sorry for my bad English!

I'd recommend using a USB stick to reinstall Windows. It’s a much cleaner method that will start you off fresh without the clutter of the old system.

If things are as bad as you describe, a clean install of Windows is probably your best bet instead of just a reset. It'll wipe everything and give you a fresh start.

This is definitely the way to go!

Avoid using the built-in reset option. It often leads to more issues. A fresh installation is the most reliable solution here.

Make sure to back up any important files first! After that, a clean install is the safest route. Just wipe the system disk and start over.
