Best Budget Laptops for Basic Tasks

I'm on the hunt for a budget-friendly laptop that can handle basic tasks like word processing and internet browsing, particularly for research on Wikipedia. I'm currently juggling three different novels, but my old desktop is way too stationary, so I'm hoping to find something portable that's better than typing on my phone. I'm open to buying used, but I have no idea what specs I should look for or what to avoid. Any advice would be appreciated!

Check out ThinkPad T models; they're super reliable and often available second-hand for a good price. If you're looking to save even more, older models like the T490 or T480 are excellent choices too. ThinkPads are known for their durability, which is perfect for your needs!

The best bet is to grab the cheapest laptop you can find that has an SSD. SSDs usually mean the laptop has modern specs that can do what you need without a hitch. Prices really vary based on location, so let’s just say look for the most affordable model with an SSD. Since you're open to used options, it might widen your choices!

I did mention being okay with used in my original post. I live in rural Arizona, so my options are limited (Walmart is about it). I'm hoping to keep my budget under $100, is that even remotely doable?
