I've been struggling for several months now with a cumulative update that won't install on my Windows Server 2016. I've tried various DISM commands and even ran sfc /scannow, but nothing seems to work. The installation keeps rolling back. Does anyone have any advice or solutions?

Have you checked the update logs? Sometimes a previous update can cause conflict, and that could lead to the rollback. It could be a hit or miss, but the logs might give you some clues about what's going wrong.
Honestly, if all else fails, you might want to consider reinstalling Windows using the option to keep your apps and files. It could save you a lot of headaches in the long run.
Just nuke it! 😄 It's about time for a clean slate anyway.
