Hey everyone! I'm looking for your thoughts on my upcoming gaming setup. I'm upgrading from a machine I built back in 2016 and I've landed on these components:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D
- Motherboard: B550 ATX
- RAM: Patriot Viper Steel 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 3600MHz CL18
- GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 4070 VENTUS 2X E 12G OC
- PSU: Be Quiet! Pure Power 12 M 750W 80 Plus Gold Modular
- Case: NZXT H5 Flow
- Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition
I'm targeting a setup that will last me at least 4-5 years, and I'm wondering if this build seems realistic and if everything looks compatible. I'm located in Europe and planning to purchase through Amazon for about 1300 euros. Is there a way to cut costs and get something similar for around 1000? I'm not a competitive gamer; I just want to enjoy games like POE2 with great visuals. Thanks a lot for your insights!

Overall, your build looks good for the price! It should handle gaming well.
You might want to consider the RX 7800XT if you can find it at a good price. It could be a great alternative to the 4070.
I’ll give that a look, thanks!
He wants to lower the budget, not increase it!
Are you keeping any parts from your old PC? If you're upgrading everything, you might want to look into newer AM5 options instead of sticking with AM4. If you’re going all new, a 9600X with a B650 board can give you some good performance for a mid-range build.
I have an Asustek Prime Z370 P with an i5-8400 and 16GB RAM right now; I think I want to replace everything, so I'd need a new motherboard for AMD, right?
For similar cash, you could get an AM5 setup which might be better in the long run. The 4070 you're considering may not hold up well in the long haul. I'd aim for a 4070 Super or the 7800XT instead.
Good to hear! 😀
