I recently inherited my grandma's old HP laptop after she upgraded. I performed a factory reset and cleared unused files, but it's still really sluggish. I don't have specifics like the model number, but I saw a sticker saying it has an Intel Core i7, 7th generation processor. My sister thinks I should just sell it, but I'm keen on trying to fix it up. Any advice on what might be causing the slowness or how I can improve its performance?

Knowing the performance specs would be really helpful here. Look for a sticker on the bottom of the laptop; that should have the model number. It might give you a clue about the hardware capabilities.

First off, what operating system are you running? If it's Windows 10 or 11, you can find useful info by pressing Win+I, then going to System and About. We need to figure out your CPU model and how much RAM you have. Also, check your C drive properties for the hardware details, especially the drive type.

I checked but couldn't find a sticker. I’ll keep looking!
