What’s the Best CPU to Pair with the 9070 XT Without Overspending?

I'm considering upgrading from my RX 6800 and Ryzen 5 7600 to the 9070 XT, but I'm unsure about which CPU to match it with. I play a variety of games like Rocket League, Destiny 2, Rainbow 6, Forza Horizon 5, along with modded Minecraft and Cyberpunk. Currently, I game at 1080p 144Hz and achieve high to max settings across most titles, but I struggle to get above 50-60 fps in Minecraft and Cyberpunk. I'm also planning on moving to a 1440p 240Hz monitor soon. My budget is around CAD 350-450. I've seen people suggest both ends of the spectrum in terms of CPU options. I'd like to know if I can avoid bottlenecking the performance at 1440p 240Hz and what a reasonable upgrade path looks like without spending excessively.

Stick with the 7600 for now. If you jump to an X3D chip, that’s when you’ll see some real performance gains, usually in CPU-heavy games like Cyberpunk. Just ensure you’re set with a good cooling solution if you go that route.

You should be fine sticking with your Ryzen 7600 for now. If you're thinking about a big jump, the X3D CPUs are where it's at, but honestly, your current setup is good enough for most games. Just keep it until you find a good deal on something like a 7800X3D or 9800X3D.

Totally agree! If you're not in a hurry, waiting for the right X3D deal makes the most sense.

I get why you're asking, but really, just keep what you have for now and save up for a better X3D upgrade later. Unless you're noticing major bottlenecks, you’re set!

If you're serious about gaming, maybe eye the Ryzen 7800X3D or 9700X, but you'll need to catch them on sale. Otherwise, your 7600 is still a solid choice. The performance boost from those CPUs is quite minimal for the price.

Right! And remember, most games are more GPU-bound at 1440p, so upgrading your GPU is a better investment if you're seeing bottleneck issues.

Honestly, besides the X3D models, there isn't much out there that's going to give you a significant upgrade over the 7600. You might see only marginal improvements at 1440p. Better to wait for a CPU that's really worth the investment.

For sure! If you're not bottlenecked right now, just focus on getting that new monitor first.
