How Can I Use Claude to Organize My Obsidian Vault?

I'm not a developer, but I'm looking to make my Obsidian vault more organized for a specific topic and its subtopics. I've heard that some folks are using Claude to rewrite extensive codebases, and I'm curious if I can leverage it for my organizational needs. How can I utilize Claude to automate this process instead of doing it manually? Any advice would be super helpful!

Absolutely, using Claude can be incredibly effective! It acts like your personal assistant, especially if you set it up correctly. I even have a headless instance running on my vault that connects to an app on my phone, so I can control things anytime. Just remember to back up your vault or use git to keep everything safe, since Claude can make a lot of changes fast.

Thanks for the tip! I really need to make sure I have backups before diving in.

I've been tackling this manually too, and it's definitely a lot of work! I keep breaking topics into smaller chunks because of the limitations, but I'm not sure if using Claude will simplify my process. Has anyone here seen real benefits from switching to using Claude compared to the manual approach?

For me, it's minimized the repetitive tasks and made it easier to manage my notes without all the manual cutting and pasting.

To get started with Claude, you'll want to set up a clear prompt that explains the mess you're facing. For example, you might say, 'This folder of notes in Obsidian is disorganized. Can you suggest different ways to organize it? Let's brainstorm a few utilities we could write to help with that.' Once you have a plan, you can break the work into manageable phases and let Claude tackle them one at a time. And definitely backup your vault first, just in case things don't go as planned!
