Hey everyone! I built my PC about 5 years ago and I've finally saved up around $500 to upgrade it. Here are my current specs:
- AMD Ryzen 5 2600 (3.4 GHz, 6-core)
- Gigabyte B450M DS3H Wifi Micro ATX AM4
- GeForce GTX 1660 OC (6GB)
- Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4
- EVGA 600 BR 600W 80+ Bronze certified
I mainly use this PC for gaming. What do you think would be the most worthwhile upgrade for me? Thanks for any tips!

If you don’t have an SSD yet and your motherboard can support one, I’d definitely recommend getting that first. It makes a huge difference in load times and overall system responsiveness!
With a $500 budget, you could look for a used Ryzen 5600X or upgrade to an RTX 3070 or 3080. You might also want to consider adding more RAM—2x16GB sticks of DDR4-3200 or 3600 could help boost performance too.
What graphics card are you using currently?
You might want to upgrade your graphics card, just make sure it’s compatible with the wattage of your power supply. Also consider getting a better AM4 CPU if you can fit it in your budget after the graphics card. If you plan on moving to AM5 or DDR5 soon, you might want to hold off on extra RAM for now.
Oh, I forgot to mention, it’s a Gigabyte Gv-N1660OC-6GD GeForce GTX 1660 OC 6G.
