My CPU fan sounds awful—what should I replace it with?

I've got a Ryzen 5800X and a 3070 Ti, but my CPU fan is starting to sound like a wood chipper—super loud and distracting, even with the glass case on. I have to tap the side of my PC to make it stop buzzing. I've been told the bearing might be going bad. What should I consider replacing it with?

It sounds like you're dealing with a noisy fan for sure. Just to clarify, the Ryzen 5800X doesn't come with a fan by default, so you'll need to check which specific fan you're talking about. A lot of people use the Wraith Stealth Cooler with this CPU, so if that’s your cooler, it might be time for a replacement or an upgrade!

Yeah, the Wraith Stealth can get pretty loud over time. If that's the one, definitely look into some aftermarket coolers—they tend to be quieter and more efficient.

If you're hearing the buzzing when tapping the side of the case, it might be a case fan or something like a wire touching the fan blades. You said you checked the fans individually, but maybe double-check where the wires are routed. If it really is the CPU fan making that noise despite cranking it up and down, then yes, it’s time for a new one!

Good advice! If you figure it's the CPU fan, going for a top-rated cooler like something from Noctua or Cooler Master can make a huge difference.
