Should I choose the 9800x3d or the 7800x3d for my ASUS B650E-F build?

Hey everyone! I'm in the final stages of building my new PC and have to decide between the 9800x3d and the 7800x3d for my ASUS B650E-F motherboard. I'm a bit worried about the 12+2+2 VRM configuration and whether it can handle the 9800x3d. My current GPU is an XFX Mercury 9070 XT OC, and I'm mainly playing AAA titles. Also, I plan to upgrade to a 5090 or the highest Gen 5 card compatible with this motherboard, so would the 7800x3d suffice for that? I've got my build listed here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zQJvC8. Thanks in advance!

Honestly, both CPUs will work great for your needs. The 7800x3d is a solid choice, especially considering the VRM situation; it should handle it just fine even if you upgrade later. But if you can stretch your budget, the 9800x3d might give you a little extra power for those AAA games! Just make sure your cooling solution is up to par!

For sure! But just keep in mind that the 12+2+2 setup is pretty decent for both CPUs. Don’t stress too much about it unless you’re pushing overclocking limits.
