Hey everyone, I'm dealing with a frustrating issue. My PC shuts down unexpectedly while I'm gaming, specifically during heavy loads like Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Witcher 3. It just goes to a black screen, and there's no BSOD. Sometimes, it struggles to boot up again after I wait a few minutes. My specs are Ryzen 9 5900X, GTX 3090 FE, 32GB DDR4 RAM, and I'm using an EVGA 1000WG3 PSU. The GPU temps stay below 65°C, and the CPU under 80°C. Everything's plugged into a UPS, and the total power usage never exceeds 700 watts. I have two VGA ports supplying power to the GPU through a 12VHPWR splitter from my PSU. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

You might want to try running memtest86. I faced similar random shutdowns, and after a lot of troubleshooting, I found out that my RAM sticks were faulty. It’s worth checking out!
It sounds like it could be the PSU causing issues. I’d suggest replacing it because it might be tripping the overcurrent protection (OCP), especially with the power spikes from the 3090. I've got a powerful setup with a 14900k and a 3090ti running on an RM850x without any shutdowns.
Could be time to break out the multimeter to test that PSU. Also, did you mention you're powering the GPU through VGA? That setup seems a bit off; let’s clear that up.
Yeah, I power it through two VGA ports using the splitter that came with my GPU. Here's a link to the back of my PSU for reference: [EVGA PSU](https://eu.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=220-G3-1000-X2#images-5). What do you think?
