Hey everyone! I'm building a new PC and I just picked up a 7800X3D. I'm curious if I really need to go for an AIO cooler, or if a standard air cooler would do just fine. Thanks for your input!

If you’re not pushing extreme overclocks, most air coolers will do the trick. An AIO might look nicer and offer slightly better temps, but it's not essential for regular use.

No, an AIO isn't necessary. I have a 7800X3D running with a Noctua air cooler and it works perfectly well. They’re known for their reliability.

You don't really need an AIO cooler unless you plan to do some serious overclocking. Most dual tower air coolers can handle pretty much any consumer-grade CPU out there without any issues.

A Phantom Spirit 120 is a solid choice and should be more than enough for your 7800X3D. Air coolers are generally cheaper and more reliable too.

The only time an AIO becomes necessary is if you're in a hot environment or pushing the CPU really hard. The 7800X3D runs cool enough with a good air cooler, although an AIO can help with airflow in the case.
