I have a 2015 MacBook Air that has generally been reliable, aside from a battery replacement I had done two years ago. It worked fine until recently when it started dying without warning, even after I charged it to 100%. Today, I got a notification saying I need battery service, which seems sudden after just two years. Given that I mostly run Chrome and occasionally Spotify or Windows remote desktop for short periods, I'm wondering if I should just get it fixed again or if it's time to invest in a new one.

Your computer is definitely at an age where you should start thinking about upgrading. Plus, I’ve heard that with a tool called Open Core Legacy Patcher, you can keep using your old MacBook with newer software, which might stretch its life a bit if you aren’t ready to let go yet.
Batteries do eventually wear out, but I’d also check if you got a genuine Apple battery or a cheaper alternative. Those knock-off batteries can die out pretty quickly. If you did get a legit one, then replacing it again might help you out a bit longer.
That’s a tough situation! I think it really depends on how much you want to keep fixing an older machine. I’ve had to replace the battery on my 2013 Air twice, and it still runs fine. But, considering your Mac is almost ten years old, maybe it’s worth looking into an upgrade, especially since you're using it for work regularly.
