Hey everyone! Quick question about the taskbar in Windows 11. There's this icon next to the search bar that shows a small preview of my current desktop, labeled 'Desktop 1', and beside it, there's another one labeled 'New Desktop'. Can someone explain the function of this button? I'd love to know what it does! Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Imagine you have multiple monitors—each can display a different set of windows. The virtual desktop function creates a 'virtual monitor' that you can switch to, allowing you to manage your windows more effectively. You can have many virtual desktops, virtually limitless based on your system's capabilities! You can even use shortcuts to easily switch between them, like Win+Tab instead of the usual Alt+Tab!

Thanks for the info! If I have a Virtual Machine, can I use one of these virtual desktops to switch to it? I'm planning to install Windows XP soon for specific software.

That icon is for creating and switching between virtual desktops. Think of it like a way to group different windows in their own spaces, so you can switch back and forth easily.
