Help! My iPhone Photos Disappeared After the Latest Update—What Can I Do?

Last night, I finally decided to go through with the recent iOS update that I had been putting off for a while due to app compatibility issues. This morning, I woke up to find my entire photo library completely empty except for a few pictures I took last night. I've lost sentimental photos, including those of my childhood pet, memories with my sister who lives far away, and even some past artwork that means a lot to me. I've searched for them in the recently deleted folder, but no luck. I'm in shock and need help figuring out how to restore what I've lost. Has anyone experienced this? Is there any way to recover these photos? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Honestly, this is why I hate forced updates! Years ago, I lost important voicemails and messages after updating, and it was devastating. I hope you manage to get everything back.

You’re not forced to update; you can turn off automatic updates in your settings. Also, make sure you regularly back up your data to prevent losing important stuff.

If you’re using iCloud Photos, try connecting to Wi-Fi. The photos might not be immediately restored after the update. Sometimes they get temporarily cleared during the update process but should come back once your phone is connected.

Are you syncing your photos with iCloud? If so, check if the sync is still active on your settings. Sometimes it needs Wi-Fi to start the resync after an update.

Yeah, it's still on.
