Hey everyone! I recently got my hands on a Gigabyte 3080, but I haven't kept up with the latest hardware for a while. I mainly use my PC for gaming, a bit of music production, and I'm considering streaming in the future. I'm curious about what would be the best components to pair with this graphics card. I'm thinking about going with something in the AM5 family. Here are my current specs:

- Monitor: 3440x1440 @ 144Hz
- CPU: Ryzen 7 1700X
- Motherboard: X370 GAMING PRO CARBON (MS-7A32)
- RAM: 2x8GB DDR4 @ 2933MHz
- PSU: EVGA GQ 750W 12V 80+ Gold (bought in 2017, so I wonder if it's time for a new one?)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Looking at the prices, the 5700X3D or 5800X3D are solid choices based on what you’re willing to spend. The 5600 is about $130 and the 5700X is around $150. But if you can snag the 5700X3D for $200-250, go for it! Your current board can run a 2x16GB 3200 CL16 RAM kit, which should help your performance.

Your current Ryzen 7 1700X will definitely hold you back, especially in CPU-intensive games. I used to have a 5800X with a 3080 and it performed really well at your resolution. I’d also suggest upgrading to a cheap 32GB kit of 3200MHz RAM. And don’t forget, a BIOS update for your motherboard might be in order!

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly option, you can grab a cheap Ryzen 5 5600X for around $110. That should avoid significant bottlenecking. If your budget allows it, the 5700X3D is a good upgrade and would cost about $200. Otherwise, you might want to consider the 5800X3D for a bit more power too.
