I've been looking at the MSI Pro X870-P motherboard because of some availability issues in my area, and I'm planning to pair it with either a 7600X or 9600X CPU. I heard from PCPartPicker that these processors might not work with the motherboard without updating the BIOS. Can anyone share their thoughts on whether the MSI Pro X870-P will perform well with this setup?

Since the X870 is the latest platform for 9000-series CPUs, it generally supports them and earlier models. If you're just looking for something functional and don’t need all the extras, you could save some cash by getting a B840 motherboard instead!
If you buy the motherboard new, it should come with the right BIOS version already installed, so you shouldn't have any issues. If not, just grab a USB drive, follow MSI's steps to download the necessary BIOS, and flash it before putting your PC together.
Honestly, going with the X870 isn't going to make a huge difference compared to other boards. It's solid, sure, but unless you need specific features like more USB ports or M.2 slots, you might be overpaying.
