I've got an iPhone that's only about a year old, and it just started having this weird issue. Out of the blue, it drains super fast, shuts off even when there's still battery left, and then it can turn back on showing only 10% left. This never happened before, and I'm not sure what's going on.

It sounds like your battery might be on its last legs. Maybe it’s getting too low before it actually shows it, like turning off at 30%. Have you tried calibrating the battery by letting it run down completely and then fully charging it?
Also, remember to keep an eye on your apps. Some apps can drain the battery faster than others. Check if there are any that are using a lot of battery in your settings; that could be part of the problem too!
Have you checked your Battery Health in the settings? If it’s under 80%, that’s a sign it’s time for a battery replacement. You mentioned it’s at 87%, which isn't too bad, but if you're facing these issues, it might be worth inspecting further or possibly getting it checked out.
Yeah, I've noticed that it turns off at 30% sometimes. I don't usually let it run all the way down, but I might try that calibration trick.
