Hey everyone! I just got a DevOps intern position, and I'm super excited! There'll be a training period before I dive into actual work, which is great since my background is in mechanical engineering. I've been taking an online DevOps course where I've picked up the basics of Linux, Vagrant, and Docker. I'm looking for suggestions on what I should focus on next to get ready for my role and make the most of the training. If anyone has tips or resources for learning, I would really appreciate it! Thanks a ton!

Consider installing Linux on your main PC and using it as your primary operating system. Dive into some hands-on projects! Try launching a Docker container running an nginx site, or even a simple Python script. Understanding how different components communicate will be super beneficial since many people struggle with Docker basics like port forwarding and layer creation.
It might be a good idea to reach out to your job supervisor for insights on what skills they expect you to develop in the first few months. If you have a senior DevOps person available, ask them what you should really focus on for the next 3, 6, and 12 months. That could give you a clearer direction!
I can't do that right now since my trainer is on leave until my start date. I'm really unsure about how to prepare without that guidance.
If your company is using a public cloud, that's something to get familiar with! Understanding how cloud services work will give you an edge in your role.
Great point! I'll make sure to learn more about cloud platforms. Thanks!
That sounds awesome! I'll definitely check this out!
