Why is FindMy eating so much of my data allowance?

Hey everyone! I'm a student in the UK and I have a monthly data plan with 25GB from EE (my phone carrier) along with unlimited everything else. Recently, I've noticed that FindMy is using a whopping 11GB of my data in less than a month! I have four items listed in FindMy, but two of them show 'no location found,' which is fine because I already know where they are. Does it really require that much data to function? Also, is there a way to turn it off? I mostly use a VPN to avoid ads on streaming platforms, could that be impacting my data usage? My phone is fully updated, so I don't think that's the issue. Help me out, tech folks!

That's quite a bit of data for an app like FindMy! It could be due to background updates, especially if it’s downloading maps or firmware updates for your devices. Keep an eye on your data usage next month to see if it decreases. You can also check your cellular settings and disable cellular data for FindMy to prevent it from using up your allowance.

I don't have AirTags either, just my phone and AirPods on FindMy, so I'm not sure why it's using so much.

Whoa, that’s really odd! FindMy usually doesn’t consume that much data unless there’s something off. It might be linked to an Apple issue, so definitely monitor it, and if it keeps happening, you might want to reach out to Apple support for clarity.

If it's really consuming that much data, calling Apple might be a good bet. They might have insights or solutions to help lessen the usage.
