How to Handle My CPU Showing 100% Usage When Idling?

Hey everyone! I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to computers and I built mine around a year ago. Recently, I noticed that my CPU usage is stuck at 100% even when I'm not actively using any applications. When I check the Task Manager, it shows that the active applications are using about 90%, but the total CPU usage still reads 100%. Performance-wise, everything seems fine; I'm not experiencing any lag or issues. However, a couple of months ago, I had problems with my USB ports not working, and then recently I couldn't click on icons. I managed to fix the icon issue by reinstalling Windows, but I'm not sure what to do about the CPU usage. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

First off, you should definitely check the components of your build. If your CPU is idling at 100%, that’s concerning! Try opening Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete or right-clicking on the taskbar. From there, look at all the processes running on your PC and sort them by CPU usage to see what's hogging the resources.

Got it, I’ll check Task Manager! My CPU is an AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, and I’ve got 32GB of RAM. I’m not sure about the SSD though; I took it from an old laptop. Could that be affecting things?
