I just built a new PC and installed a Samsung 9100 PRO m.2 SSD, but I'm only getting about half of the advertised speeds—around 7100MB/s read and 6900MB/s write. I've made sure to enable performance mode in Samsung Magician, and I double-checked the BIOS settings; everything is set to 5.0. I bought my PC from SCAN and have always had good experiences with them. I chose the gen 5 m.2 for its potential 14000MB/s speeds, so I'm a bit frustrated with the current performance.
For reference, here are my specs:
- Motherboard: ROG Z890
- CPU: i7 265k Ultra
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance 6000 DDR5

Have you checked which M.2 slot your SSD is installed in? It's important that the SSD is in a slot capable of supporting PCIe 5.0 speeds. Make sure it’s in the M.2.1 slot as that one usually supports the higher speeds on the ROG Strix Z890-F Gaming WiFi board.
Yes, it's in the M.2.1 slot. That’s the only one that supports 5.0, so I thought I was good there.
