For the past couple of weeks, our shared Apple ID has stopped working properly across two iPads and an iPhone. It first asked me to sign in to use iMessage, but the password we had always used was rejected. After too many attempts, the account was locked, so I changed the password and was able to sign in again. However, trying to download an app still brings up the Apple ID password prompt. Both the new and old passwords are rejected—the password field simply shakes, clears, and asks again. I'm worried about being locked out again, so I haven't signed out of the devices. The only recent change was updating our banking app after the bank was sold, when all of our devices prompted us to set up a passkey. Has anyone dealt with this or know what I should check?

What exact message or behavior do you see when you try to download an app? Knowing whether it shows an error, rejects the password, or repeatedly returns to the sign-in prompt would help narrow this down.

There isn’t an error message. The password field shakes, clears itself, and appears again. I’m concerned that trying repeatedly will lock the account again.
