My Core i9-13900KF reaches around 75–90°C while playing Counter-Strike 2 at 2560×1440 and 300 Hz, and it has briefly reached 100°C. I'm wondering whether this is normal or whether there could be a cooling problem. My system has a Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic case, DeepCool CASTLE 240EX liquid cooler, ASRock Z790 PG Lightning motherboard, 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory, an RTX 3080 12GB, three case fans, and a 750W power supply. What could be causing these temperatures, and what steps should I take to reduce them?

Your symptoms could point to a cooler or airflow issue rather than the processor itself. Check that the pump is running at the expected speed, confirm the radiator is not being fed mostly warm case air, and verify that the cooler is mounted evenly. A high-end air cooler such as a Noctua NH-D15 can be a reasonable alternative, but it will not necessarily outperform a healthy 240 mm AIO by a huge margin. Improving the mount, airflow, power limits, and voltage may help more than changing cooler type alone.
Modern Intel processors boost aggressively until they run into their thermal or power limits, so high temperatures under heavy workloads are not automatically dangerous. However, CS2 normally should not push a properly mounted 13900KF straight to 100°C, especially if the temperature stays there. Monitor CPU package power, clock speeds, and whether thermal throttling is occurring rather than looking at temperature alone.
It did reach 100°C, which seems excessive for this game, so I’m going to check the cooler and motherboard power settings instead of assuming it is normal.
A 13900KF can run very hot, but reaching 100°C in a game is worth investigating. A 240 mm liquid cooler is on the small side for this processor, especially if the motherboard is allowing high power limits. Check the pump and radiator fans, remount the cooler with fresh thermal paste, and make sure the radiator is receiving cool airflow. You can also set Intel power limits or reduce the CPU voltage slightly to lower temperatures with little performance loss.
I’m planning to replace the thermal paste and install a contact frame. I’m also starting to think the 240 mm cooler may simply be undersized.

I’m considering switching to a large air cooler, but I’ll test the current AIO, improve the mounting, and check airflow first.
