I'm new to Linux and considering switching from Windows, mainly because I like the look and customization options. The problem is that I currently use unofficial copies of Premiere Pro and After Effects, and I also play games installed from unofficial repacks. I'd like to know whether those applications and games can work reliably on Linux, whether performance would be noticeably different from Windows, and which distribution would be the easiest choice for my needs.

Distributions such as Zorin OS can feel comfortable for someone coming from Windows and may include easy Wine integration, but that doesn’t solve application-level compatibility problems. If a Windows program doesn’t work properly with Wine, changing distributions usually won’t fix it. A normal desktop distribution is likely a better starting point than a gaming-focused system unless gaming is your main use.
If Premiere Pro and After Effects are essential, Linux probably isn’t a good replacement for Windows right now. Adobe’s desktop applications don’t have reliable native Linux support, and compatibility layers such as Wine usually don’t make them dependable. You could look into Linux alternatives like DaVinci Resolve, Kdenlive, or Blender, but they may require changing your workflow.
The safest approach is to try Linux without giving up Windows immediately. Use a spare drive for a dual-boot setup, test it in a virtual machine, or install it on an older computer first. Before switching completely, verify your exact creative software, graphics drivers, and most-played games. Performance can be similar or even better in some games, but compatibility issues and setup time may outweigh any gains.
Gaming is a different story. Many Windows games work through Steam Proton, and compatibility can be checked on ProtonDB. Games installed outside Steam may also work with tools such as Lutris or Bottles, but results vary by game, launcher, DRM, and required components. Don’t assume every repack will run just because a similar game does.
